The MBA Tour is looking for an Events Senior Manager:

The Events Senior Manager is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing The MBA Tour’s (“Tour”) short-term and long-term events strategy and delivering fast and sustainable results in four (4) primary areas:

  • Strategic growth of the Tour’s events portfolio;
  • Continued successful coordination and management of the Tour’s events;
  • Manage tour and events budget; and
  • Management of Events department staff member(s).
  • Develop overall strategic plan for the Tour’s events portfolio.
  • Work with Managing Director and Finance to determine market size and potential market growth, determine financial cost to offer each event to be fiscally responsible.
  • Oversee the event format/structure, manage speaker selection and coordinate the panel sessions for desired outcomes.
  • Work closely with key partners and stakeholder groups to ensure their needs are met, as dictated by the parameters of their agreements with the Tour.
  • Coordinate and manage successful production of the Tour’s events worldwide, to include venue research, negotiation, and selection, event coordination and logistics, confirming client travel arrangements, and communicating with travel agency, hotels, and clients.
  • Price and create travel packages for clients and tour leaders including flights and hotels.
  • Develop and manage travel itineraries, pricing, and bookings.
  • Be the main contact for tour leader questions and provide assistance, if needed.
  • Assist clients/representatives with tour registration, signing up for options, login assistance etc.
  • Create/upload options into our database, approve options and assist in managing panel participation.
  • Conduct research, including surveying customers and clients regularly to assess educational needs and preferences.
  • Translate constituent needs into viable events concepts including speakers, concurrent panel sessions, discussion groups, workshops, etc.
  • Assist as liaison between web programmers and the company, working to implement changes, testing and updates to the online experience related to event activity.
  • Manage databases, to include the Tour member website, to ensure data is accurate (e.g., client information, event dates and scheduled meetings).
  • Budget ownership and management of the Tour’s events portfolio to ensure fiscal independence/ profitability.
  • Provide financial guidance and input into the events annual pricing
  • Process all tour invoices, to include pricing, discounts and promotions; monitor and send late fees to universities; answer client questions regarding invoicing; monitor invoices on PayPal account.
  • Act as liaison between the Tour and our IT vendor, Accordare, to ensure Tour technology, including projectors, scanners and laptops, are configured properly and/or loaded with the appropriate software; update and track Accordare invoices and spend versus budget.
  • Oversee day-to-day management and training and development of events staff, including positioning for future professional success.
  • Other responsibilities and duties, as assigned.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience planning, managing, and executing events at a comparable organization or experience in the graduate management education industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university in related field; Or equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive managerial experience.
  • Ability to make strategic decisions that have a direct impact on daily operations of the department.
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to deliver results.
  • Experience running an event budget and registration system.
  • Ability to guide others in resolving complex issues of significance to the organization.
  • Superior analytical skills and ability to prioritize objectives.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and collaborative skills; Strong attention to detail, with a keen focus on quality.
  • Ability to travel at least 2 weeks per year internationally and 1 week per year domestically for onsite event management.
